With GamesCon well and truly underway it was only a matter of time before battlefield 3 videos where released, and EA really haven’t held back this time. They kicked off by showing us a PS3 version of the Co-Op where 2 players can play side by side against the computer in missions designed specifically for co-op, so you and a friend can jump on and kick some AI ass. In this demo we see a massive street fight set at night. Switching between thermal vision offers a large benefit to players, and makes it easier to see and spot your targets. Whilst in thermal vision you can actually see that the targets are wearing Kevlar because the heat doesn’t penetrate as much in that area, it really looks awesome.

The new trailer just released shows the PC 64 player map with dog fights, tanks and everything you’ve been expecting. The knifing animation looks amazing straight off the bat, as we delve further into the trailer we can see ATVs and other light vehicles along with low flying choppers and tanks. The Jet cockpits look stunning, however the jets do seem to fly a lot slower than they would fly in real life, this is no doubt due to balancing, as jets would fly from one side of the map to another too fast. Anti Air units firing, UAV footage and what looks to be some kind of ground remote control vehicle. This is defiantly a must watch trailer for any FPS fan.

Origin is EA’s new platform similar to Valve’s Steam and it would appear they are doing exactly the same thing as with the launch of Modern Warfare 2. Previously known as EA Download Manager, Origin will have a games library where players no longer need to insert their disc, instead they can launch their EA titles directly from it. The only downside we can really see is that doing this can chew up some much needed resources to lower end PC’s. That being said it will offer a marketplace where they will no doubt have sales, and offer great competition for the previously unmatched Steam. Dota 2 Trailer

It’s the eve of the first ever Dota 2 championship which will see the world’s top 20 Dota teams playing off against each other for the first place prize of one million dollars at this year’s GamesCon in Cologne. What makes it more interesting is the fact that it’s the first time Dota 2 will be played by anyone so the players have no idea what to expect. The grand unveiling of Dota 2 will be presented in four languages, and all matches will be streamed live from GamesCon. For more information check out dota2.com
 

GTA IV MOD iCEnhancer 1.3

 We've just come across this amazing mod created by Keilany Hayssam Which modifies the game so that the textures look even sexier, added motion blur and a realistic look never seen before. The buildings look amazing and he's done such an excellent job, we thought we'd feature it. He's added things to this mod which it would seem Rockstar forgot, even down to the moss on the pillars by the water, this is top notch work from a GTA4 modder. The only downside to installing this on your game is ofcourse, once installed you cannot play online, as the game is modified, but certainly makes single player look slick. ABC News is reporting that at last all of Australia's Attorney General’s have agreed to implement an adult rating for video games. That’s right guys, it's taken 10 years to finally sort out but  Australia has been granted the go ahead. Which means Aussies will be able to buy “Mortal Kombat 9” and the uncensored version of “Left 4 Dead 2”.This news comes just in time as well, as freddy krueger DLC for MK9 is looking like a must have.

Team Fortress 2: Live Action.

Recently the guys over at Corridor Digital have made this amazing Team Fortress 2 clip, of what the game might be like if it were real life. A must watch for any TF2 fan.

 Well its official, Transformers Universe is in production, and although there hasn't been much news about the game as of yet there is a lot of excitement in the air. Obviously with a title like this there’s a lot of room to move because the creators have an entire universe to work with. That of course means that we will most likely see Earth and Cybertron as just two of the planets players are able to visit in the game. With other space MMOs becoming more and more popular with titles such as EVE Online, game producers are catching on that this is the best way to create a giant playground for players where there isn’t any boundaries except for ones imagination. Upcoming titles such as EA/Bioware’s Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic and Blizzard’s codenamed project: Titan (which we think will be something along the lines of Star Craft Universe) MMO devs are leaving the strictly one planet per game behind and venturing forth into the dark reaches of space.

Transformers Universe will see Autobots and Decepticons as the two factions which players will be able to choose from and then face off against one and other. War for Cybertron saw players do this in a third-person shooter which was actually a lot of fun. Not something one would want to play for hours on end however combined with its kill streaks, and the ability to transform into a car, truck or jet really made this game something special. If Jagex are capable of capturing that aspect of the game and injecting it into an MMO which has great robot customization, this game could really turn out well. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing how this turns out, unfortunaly it isn't scheduled untill 2012. Stay tuned to g33kd for all the latest Transformers Universe information. Next WoW Expansion:

Blizzard has just trademarked the name "Mists of Pandaria". Speculation is underway all over the internets as to what it might be. A lot of people are reporting that it is in fact the next World of Warcraft expansion. According to MMO Champion "the international codes 009 and 041 only seem to appear on Blizzard's online games trademarks." This would indicate that the title is going to be a new online game, an expansion to an existing online game or just a red herring. The debate is on as to what this means. If it is a WoW expansion, given the fact it is "Mists of Pandaria" one would have to assume that the neutral race won't become playable. However it could all just be a big decoy before they announce the next big thing at Blizzcon. 

 Chinese prisoners forced to farm gold on MMOS

54 year old Chinese inmate Liu Dali has told the Guardian newspaper of corruption in the Chinese prison system after he and other inmates were forced to farm for gold in popular MMOS. During the day they would farm fields and by night they would farm gold. "Prison bosses made more money forcing inmates to play games than they do forcing people to do manual labour," "If I couldn't complete my work quota, they would punish me physically. They would make me stand with my hands raised in the air and after I returned to my dormitory they would beat me with plastic pipes. We kept playing until we could barely see things," Next time you see someone spamming global with gold for sale, ask them if, by any chance, they work at ixi re-education-through-labour camp in Heilongjiang province. Google Street view: Liberty City
Google street view has been around for a few years now and i guess it was only a matter of time before it was used for pure evil. Some lads over at gta4.net have actually used the technology to stitch together 8,000 screenshots from the streets of Liberty City. Not only that, they've gone one step further than Google, and actually marked the locations of stunt jumps and "flying rat" locations to make Nikos life a little easier when it comes to ticking these off. Tomb Raider Reboot:

The new Tomb Raider reboot, currently in the works, will see Lara Croft stranded in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a few tools and her will to live. The new trailer entitled "Turning Point" really shows the Edios are going to be taking this game in an entirely new direction. with a new movie on the way and Lara’s hot new look, it’s safe to say we haven’t seen the last of Lara Croft.

Battlefield 3 – Beta information

Its official, battlefield is on the way and with the release  just a few months away, people are begging to wonder where’s the beta?

If you bought Medal of Honor just for the early access to bf3 beta like we did then you'll be happy to know the following information from EA and DICE:

"Recently a Medal of Honor: Limited Edition Beta newsletter went out to users. What is that all about?
 
Well, that newsletter says you are entitled to play the beta in September. It is however not a ticket or a code. If you purchased a copy of Medal of Honor with the Battlefield 3 Beta sticker on it, you are eligible for the Beta. If you have not received the newsletter, make sure you opt in on your EA Profile to receive them. Also, if you haven´t received the newsletter and own a copy of Medal of Honor: Limited edition, you are eligible to play in the beta.*"

The Open Beta will start in September. The exact date for when Medal of Honor: Limited Edition players can join the Beta will be announced at a later date.

So you heard them folks, sometime next month battlefield 3 will move out of the alpha stage and into the beta stage, where we the general public will be able to taste the game that’s shaping up the be the greatest FPS of all time. Bad Company 2 saw beta players thrashing it out for a month on Port Valdez Rush (PC), and from early alpha footage it looks as though we will be playing operation metro as the beta map.

Operation metro is a beautiful map set in Paris. The rush version spans from an open urban park in Paris, through to the underground train lines and train station, meaning it has everything from open spaces to tight bottlenecks, making this a great choice to test how the game really works.

Playstation 3 Network status

The Playstation Network has gone back online, crisis over. Playstation has said sorry, and is offering some freebees to everyone as a result!!
